Kuala Selangor situated about 40km from Klang, was once a Bugis settlement and the birthplace of the Selangor Sultanate. Considered the rice bowl of the state, Kuala Selangor is famed for its forts, historical heritage as well as its fishing villages and fresh seafood.
Kuala Selangor is also world renowned for sighting the magnificent fireflies aka ‘lightning bugs’ which transforms the ‘Berembang’ trees along the Selangor River into magical Christmas trees at nightfall. Interestingly the firefly is neither a fly nor a bug. It is a beetle.
